Reasons To Be Cheerful: Series 2
BBC Radio 4, Saturday 24th & 31st July and 7th August, 10.30am.
Three new presenters go on personal missions with their arguments to dispel the notion that modern Britain has gone to hell in a handcart. They challenge the culture of nostalgia which threatens to overtake us, taking to task a well known grumpy of their choice and attempting to convert them with their Reasons to be Cheerful.
We kick off with actor Gordon Kennedy, who meets a grumpy John O’Farrell. The following week, writer Jake Arnott takes on Kathryn Flett and finally, columnist Katharine Whitehorn tries to convince grumpy comedian Tony Hawks that modern life has more ups than downs.
